Jose came to CareerCatchers through a Rapid Rehousing referral after spending several years incarcerated. Living in a shared home in the City of Gaithersburg, Jose was determined to rebuild his life. With support from CareerCatchers, he actively participated in Job Club and Empowerment Workshops and worked one-on-one with a career coach to apply for employment opportunities. When a position at UPS became available, Jose acted quickly, expressed strong interest, and secured a job that provided stability and a fresh start.
Jose’s success quickly began to ripple outward. Seeing his progress, his roommate, Harold, asked for help as well. Harold had been working at a car wash with inconsistent hours and income that fluctuated with the seasons. Through CareerCatchers, Harold applied for a driving support role at UPS. With guidance and encouragement, he completed the application process and was hired, transitioning into more stable employment.
Jose also referred his friend’s son, Eduard, a Montgomery College student seeking part-time work to support himself and his family while in school. Eduard received assistance with his application and was hired at UPS shortly after. He successfully balanced work and school and gained steady income.
Inspired by his own experience, Eduard then referred his aunt, who lives within the City of Gaithersburg, to CareerCatchers. She expressed interest in career coaching services and began the intake process to explore her employment goals. What began as support for one individual became a growing network of neighbors helping neighbors, demonstrating how trust, relationships, and shared success can open doors across an entire community.
