Maryland has launched a $1 million incentive program, VaxU Scholarship Promotion, to encourage 12- to 17-year-olds to get vaccinated against COVID-19. To qualify, students must both live and be vaccinated in Maryland.
Beginning Monday, July 12, two winners will be drawn at random each week for eight weeks, until Labor Day. Each winner will receive a $50,000 scholarship for full tuition and fees at any public, in-state institution of higher learning. To conclude the program, on Labor Day four winners will be selected. For more information, visit the VaxU Scholarship Promotion website.
Federal COVID-19 relief funds will be used to cover the cost of the program.
