New thrift shop opens in Bethesda

New4You Thrift Boutique opened earlier this month at 4909 Cordell Avenue. The store sells assorted items, such as clothing, jewelry, art, books, kitchenware and furniture. The store is open 10 am-3 pm Wednesday-Saturday, 11 am-3 pm Sunday, and is closed Monday and Tuesday.

Bethesda lost the non-profit Montgomery County Thrift Shop on Wisconsin Avenue last year, after 75 years of operation, when it couldn’t meet the financial and logistical challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

New4You, also a non-profit, is operated entirely by volunteers who are not associated with any other organization. All the store’s profits will go to Shepherd’s Table, an organization in Silver Spring dedicated to battling food insecurity and homelessness.

The store is accepting donations of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, jewelry, books and toys, table and bed linens and towels, furniture, other home décor, and small electronics (e.g., radios, irons, fans, heaters, vacuum cleaners and clocks). Call 301-656-2002 for more information. More.
