Job Description

Employment Specialist – Bilingual

We are a small, highly dynamic, and growing organization seeking a full-time Bilingual Employment Specialist for a two-year grant term to support low-income clients to achieve optimal employment outcomes.

Successful candidates will have experience working with the homeless and other disadvantaged populations, and will be committed to building positive relationships with clients and case managers to ensure clients achieve job stability and long-term career growth. This role will be responsible for serving a minimum of 75 clients per year. The Bilingual Employment Specialist must be fluent in English and either Amharic or Spanish, both written and oral.

For the foreseeable future, this role will be hybrid working remotely and meeting clients in various locations throughout Montgomery County and Washington DC. Candidates must be local to the DC metro area and have access to a car to meet with clients in person.


  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, case managers, and community partners
  • Provide one-on-one coaching, mentoring and training with a focus on innate strengths of the client
  • Maintain client roster of 75+ clients per year with monthly in-person check-ins
  • Ensure the retention and continued success of client placements by maintaining regular contact for a minimum of two years’ post-placement
  • Assist clients in obtaining new employment and identify/reduce/remove barriers to career advancement through relationships with employers, training providers and vocational education programs
  • Coordinate career development workshops and trainings and measure completion
  • Develop and deliver job readiness and skill training curriculum in English and Spanish or Amharic
  • Manage timely and accurate data collection of service outcomes using CRM and standard program forms in accordance with grant guidelines
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English and Spanish, French, or Amharic
  • Proven track record of nurturing and growing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Strong facilitation experience and ability to deliver content to diverse audiences
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated


  • Combination of 5 years’ education and experience with low income Spanish, French, or Amharic speakers
  • Knowledge of CRM software and proficiency at managing sensitive data
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience hosting, facilitating, and participating in Zoom sessions
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Montgomery County, Maryland and DC social services and employment law is a plus

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range of $55,000-$60,000
